DPC joined several dozen journalists, writers, columnists and reporters in Bulong Pulungan, a 24 -year old weekly forum of the country’s media practitioners, last July 27, 2010 at Sofitel Philippine Plaza to talk about the legacy of the late President Corazon Aquino. This event allowed us to announce the availability of the new book to the media and encourage pick-up among consumers.
During the gathering, several of the country’s most established columnists and journalists, as well as other media from various publications and most local TV networks (ABS-CBN, GMA7, TV5, etc.) were given the opportunity to share stories of their experiences with the late president. The forum, presided over by Ms. Deedee Siytangco, invited Atty. Koko Pimentel and Anthony Gaw as guests speakers.
The event also gave us a venue to share the story behind the cover of our directory. Ms. Edna Villena, Vice President for Marketing, recounted how DPC decided on the theme of the painting contest, while the winner of the 24th PLDT-DPC Visual Arts Competition, Julian Paguiligan, spoke about the inspiration behind his masterpiece.
The attendees were very vocal in expressing their approval for the cover and were all praises for Julian’s interpretation of Tita Cory’s legacy. They were also appreciative of the fact that DPC had decided to honor the late president by placing her image on our cover. Copies allotted to the media ran out very quickly when they found out that they were available.

During Bulong Pulungan, Julian and DPC were also invited to participate in the unveiling of the world’s largest photo mosaic – a 250x200ft image featuring a portrait of Tita Cory made up of thousands of photographs of the former President – on July 31, 2010. Julian’s painting was used as the main backdrop for the stage. As part of the ceremonies, Julian personally handed President Noynoy Aquino a signed copy of the Household and Business Directory. The event, held in Quirino Grandstand and covered by all major local networks and broadsheets as well as other publications and cable channels served as a way to honor the mother of democracy on the eve of her first death anniversary.
